How to build a raised garden bed over concrete ground?
I have a concrete yard and I want to build a raised garden bed over it. I plan to make a 2 (w) x 15 (l) x 1 (d) ft. Does anyone know how to it or any web-site I can go to find the answer? I tried DIY, they have a tutorial but it only covers how to build a garden bed on top of the garden.
Thank you!!!
I forgot to say that the concrete yard is slanted a little, and I want to plant flowers in the bed
I agree with the answer above… either shim up or leave plenty of weep holes for the water to drain. One other tip would be to line the interior of the bed with some kind of ground cover (felt or woven) that will allow the water to escape but not the soil.
it would be the same principal except u would need to shim up the bottom of the frame about 1" so the water can drain
so you could get someone or you if you know how to use a hammer drill to drill heaps of holes in the concrete right through so the water can drain. Put some mesh over these holes to stop them becoming clogged with soil. then
like the others said you need to raise the wood off the concrete a little because we all know that wood and concrete NOOOOOOOO.
a simple way would be to put a few layers to polythene under the wood cheap and easy.
hope this helps.
