Raised Bed Project 2 – Watermelons

Complete project, start to finish building a 1′ x 2′ x 10inch raised bed (6 + 4dug). 1/2″ x 6″ x 6′ Cedar untreated fence board was on sale here for only .29 us each. So, we bought some and some large head galvanized nails to make this raised bed. We also bought 2″ x 2″ x 8′ Poplar for the corner braces, cut long to pound into the ground for support. It is important to use large head nails to increase the surface area of the nail’s grip. This will help prevent splitting the cedar and holds much stronger in soft woods. The one we bought are meant for roofing and are galvanized. That means, they are weather proof and won’t rust. -Acres of Reed
