What is the Length, Total area, Garden bed area and Area not including garden bed in this problem?

There is a 3×3 garden bed with paving along the outside and a garden bed in the middle
I need an equation to be able to work out each of these in a 3×3 square with the middle being a place with soil in it. So i need an equation that satisfies all of these:
Length =3
Area with paving=8
Garden bed area=1
Total area=9

So an example of the equation i want is Area with paving[Area around garden bed (A)]= L^2-(L-2)^2
And i suppose the total area(P) is P=L^2

Sorry, i havent explained it well and we are doing quadratic graphing and quadratics so…. if that is any help to trying to work it out

Planting Hot Peppers, Part 2

We ended up planting 7 Banana Hot Peppers and 5 Red Jalapeno starters from our mini-hot house. We left room for 3 more bell peppers. We also planted 4 Bush Bean, Green Beans in our prior garden bed. Two of our daughters helped narrate our progress. All of the children have been a huge help and been very diligent helpers. Perhaps today, blessed are the cloud watchers. -Acres of Reed

How do I remove a BIG bush?

I have a bush in my back yard that I must remove in order to install a raised garden bed in it’s place. I have no idea what kind of bush it is but it looks a bit like some kind of evergreen pine of some sort. Anyway, It’s pretty big. About 5’ x 5’ I’d say. I can’t get to it to put a chain around and pull it out with a truck, and I don’t have a come along either. If I just chop it down level with the ground am I ok to just place the raised bed on top of the stub? Or will it still grow up through the bottom of my garden bed? I have heard of putting stump killer on the stub but am worried that whatever chemicals that may be in that stuff might contaminate the vegetables I plan to grow there. Any pro’s out there have any suggestions? Thanks….

Are there any trees/shrubs that can cope with waterlogged soil?

I want to start landscaping my front yard and was thinking of making a raised garden bed for flowers and such, but I also want to plant out some trees or shrubs(maximum height 3-4 metres or about 9-12 foot) that are able to cope with soil that is waterlogged from living in a low-lying area.
Any suggestions as to what may be suitable?
